“ Hello. I have a free blogspot blog with google that i put up last year. I have not changed the content on it in one year; however out of 460,000 competing sites i am the 2nd position in google's organic search. I have figured out the keyword. I am promoting an affiliate product and i average about 2 sales a month from that keyword. My question is how can i capitalize on the keyword to increase purchases without jeopardizing my #2 spot out of 460,000 competing sites. Should i just leave it alone and concentrate on other keywords, or should i do something to increase the sales that are funneling in on that particular keyword. Thank you in advance for your answer. ”

“ Thanks to Kevin Riley for his answer to my last question.

Kevin, I've started using your toolkit on how to build your own site and have started on my first squeeze page. At the top of my page, I have a small box where people can leave their email addresses in exchange for my "tips", and am just wondering how to go about getting that on the page. It is situated beside some text as well.'

Thanks again for your help,

“ Hi all

A quick question re: marketing on Facebook. I have a site that I have almost finished, selling mini canvas prints (MiniCanvas.co.uk)

I have a few things to finish off on the site but then plan to start some promotion via Facebook as I think the product is a great match for FB users.

Please can anyone advise whether it is best to set up a FB group or a Fan Page in order to promote this.

Also, is it OK using either to ask people to sign up to an external list by adding a link to my site for an Aweber subscription box (or do FB not allow this?)

Many thanks in advance

Phil ”

“ Hi
I have a betting related product that I plan to sell off due to other business commitments and am wondering if anybody could advise me what kind of value they would put on this site and where the best place to sell it is.

The product is a software application and since developing it I have sold approx £80k (UK £'s, so around $130k at current exchange rates).

I have done very little to drive traffic to the site, almost all sales have been generated by affiliates.

I have a subscription service built into the backend, with around 30% of customers subscribing to a monthly tipping service.

This product has excellent potential as it is a lucrative market and has not really been promoted much.

The sales data is approx 18mths old now though and I have really neglected the product - I have just been so busy on other things.

The product has some great testimonials from people who are respected in the betting market, and the sale will include the following:

- Sales letter written by me

- 2nd sales letter written by John Hostler (not yet tested)

- All software source code

- Installation of Amember, Post Affiliate Pro, GoTryThis BlackHat

- Software has ability built in to refuse access to refunded customers

There are lots more details that I could list, but the above is the basics of what is involved.

I have no idea what this is worth, and the traffic stats etc would not really indicate what could be achieved with this product.

I'm just after a bit of advice re: what it might be worth if I find the right buyer, and where would be the best place to find the right buyer :O)

Many thanks in advance for any help!!

Phil

P.S. Sorry if category is not wholly accurate, I didn't really know where to put this for certain! ”

“ Hi,

I'm making my first website and it's about Affiliate Marketing, which
I know is very, very competitive niche, so I'm looking for a longer tail word
with less pages in google search.

I'm listing some keywords here and the pages that google says there are.
Could you recommend which number you think would be best to be trying
for with someone just creating a new site?

Are these numbers too low or too high?

affiliate marketing training google pages 81,700
best affiliate marketing google pages 255,000
best affiliate marketing program google pages 38,900
online affiliate marketing google pages 273,000
affiliate marketing tips google pages 151,000

Are there other longer keywords that you think might work better?

Thanks,
Bob ”

“ I am trying to build an authority site that covers a lot of information about the subject. I am not sure what is the best way to do this, whether to configure it as a tree in the sense that the main subject is on a seperate domain and from the main domain through the articles or categories it branches to other sites that covers different niches of the main subject. I appreciate if you advise me on a plan that will help the site to be an authority site, I am looking for financial gains in the future, it does not have to be immediate. ”

“ Hi there,

I've just finished creating a product on how to create products. It is 30 videos running for 7 hours plus a substantial book and significant bonuses.

My question is what should I price this at for maximum long term profit?

Should I price it at $97?

Should I price it higher?

It is a very high quality step by step program which goes through everything from Product Research to creating the product to JV's, the lot. It's an end to end guide to info product creation.

Any suggestions / ideas please?

“ Re: Checking for Duplicate Content

Is there a service or program which can check my site in one go for duplicate content?

The reason is that I often outsource my blog posts and articles. The writers I use are pretty trustworthy and I have checked occassionally but sometimes I don't have time to check the articles for a while. (Plus I am not sure which service to use for this since I seem to have to pay to check the same domain several times a month.)

It would be good if I could just periodically check my whole site(s) all in one go. Is there a service or program which will allow me to do this for a domain instead of having to check each individual webpage? ”

Kevin I placed the http://www.my.com/=3?Yourpaypaladdressin one of my aweber messages in my aweber as a follow up message instructing customers who purchased my $7.00 e-book; on how they can make 100% profits. When I tested it; the url link within the message came out in my tested email as aweber clicks. It is as if aweber cloaked it. Am I doing something wrong in that respect? Also I attempted to download the new version of NVU that you recommended to me and for some reason the download is not working. Has something changed that you are aware of. “ Hey everyone,

First off, please excuse how "rookie" my questions are going to seem as I don't actually have a functioning site yet, although I'm about a week away from completion of my first one. So I'm really new to this and so will probably have a lot of questions leaving you guys shaking your heads at how elementary they are.

That being said, I have been studying direct marketing for the last 10 months or so and feel I'm worlds ahead of where I was, but still "rookie" - not "expert"...yet.

Anways, I recently, as I was searching for info on the net, started getting bounced around in what was obviously "affiliate" marketing - I think it all started with Robert Puddy and I now see a bunch of other names on here I learned through him since then, and it kind of opened my eyes up to the effectiveness of affiliate marketing and what-not. And now I'm here. Anyways...

Sorry for the "blog", onto my question (and it is going to be basic).

I just spent about a grand on having my site (which was basically a squeeze page I designed myself plus a few other pages) designed by a guy through Rent-A-Coder. I'm fairly happy with the work so far, but one thing lacking is he doesn't quite understand the "why" of some of the things that are in the site - not his fault, just has no marketing background at all. But now that I've been getting bounced around through all of these affiliates, I keep hearing "Wordpress" mentioned. Are most of these sites just using Wordpress? Is it advanced enough to everything we, as marketers, need? Or is it mainly just for blogging and what-not? Is this site just using Wordpress?(Again, sorry for the book)

And thanks in advance,

Rob... ”

HI
Looking for a domain name which would be a play on the intials of my name, I found that the one I wanted was not available.
Typing it as a url shows no active website using it but rather United Domains, much of the site is in German I believe.
Is there a way when a domain name seems to just be sitting to find out info about it, ie: for sale, how much, etc.
I don't want to pay a fortune for a domain like it's a collectors item, but I would like to know.
Thanks ”

“ Hi Guys

You know how it is important to build a list, and the quickest way to get traffic is PPC..but it is costly. Now, there's the Content Network which gets tons of traffic but I understand doesn't convert as well..but maybe that's for Purchases rather than opt ins? I heard you can get PPC on Content for 1 cents a click. So my theory is make a really good landing page offering a good report/guide, and use the Conet Network as a cheap way to build a list. Is this realistic, or is this pie in the sky? See, even if you weren't breaking even on the cost initially, you could make money afterwards with the email series?? What's your expert thoughts.

Cheers,
Phil ”

“ Re: Crazy Stock Photography Idea:

My husband and I are both photographers. My husband loves taking pictures of me, but I have a hard time spending much time on things unless I feel I can capitalize on it in some way. A bit of a workaholic I guess.

Recently a friend of mine, who used to be a model, told me that I should take up modeling as she says I am very photogenic. I am not model caliber at all: I am not a stick, I am not tall, and regardless of what I look like, I am 34 years old! Plus I live very far from any decent-sized town.

But suddenly I came up with a crazy idea. I thought, my husband can take photos of me, which we could upload as stock photography. (I don't know how this would work out in the long run in terms of economics, but it would at least be fun so why not try.)

I was thinking of the fact that some types of stock photography are very common and easy to find, while others are not. For example there are plenty of pictures of flowers and fruit. But there may be some types of stock photography which have a higher demand vrs supply ratio.

Eg., who knows, maybe people are looking for archery shots and we could do a whole series of archery photos and upload them. Archery at the beach, archery in the mountains, archery at sunset ... or maybe I could borrow the neighbor's horses and do a day of "woman with horse" photos. Or maybe I need to start climbing trees! (Okay, probably not, but you get the idea.)

I can think of endless ideas, but I would want to research ahead of time to find a good niche if possible in this area.

I know how to find a niche for a website - how to find a keyword that has a high level of searches vrs competition in search engines.

But what about stock photography?

Is there a way to find stock photography niches? I.e., to find out which types of images that many people search for, but have a low number of competing images?

If anyone has any ideas or insights on this matter it would be great!

“ This question is for Kevin Riley. Thank you for your answer. When I create the different pages should I use an html editor; I have WYSIWYG builder. Should I use that or NVU. I have been basically using templates from others to create the opt in pages and sales pages so now I am creating the thank you and download pages on my own. When i do this do i use a sub domain. My root domain is my.com and so the download page would be named my.com/download; is that correct?

After that I would just upload the pages i created to those files with ftp client to my hosting site?

Please let me know if I am on the right track. Also the actual download link; that i place on the download page that you have in your example how do i configure or create that where people can right click on it.

I have an ebook that gives me the following rights on the first page:

You Can Now Give This Rare Report Away Or Sell It For A Maximum Of $7!

When I read the definition of Resale Rights it says that I am not allowed to change it in anyway, nor am I allowed to pass the Resale Rights along to your customers.

Giveaway Rights do not allow me to modify the product in any way.

Am I suppose to remove the wording regarding the rights? This means that I don’t pass on the rights, but it also means that I have modified the report.

“ Re: Filtering a Keyword List

For example, if I know I am not going to make a website about loans, I would want to remove every row which contains the word "loan" or "loans."

“ Hello,

My question to the panel is about choosing a domain name. Does it really make any difference in the choice of how the final domain is formatted? For instance, I own your-education-in.com. I wonder, would it have been better to try and get youreducationin.com/, without the hyphens? I personal prefer it with the hyphens.

Also I wanted to know is it better to buy a domain that has all the elements included in the domain, your-education-in.com was bought so that I can develop sub domains, traffic, surfing, blogging, safelists etc, but now I wonder whether that was a mistake and I should have gone for domain like your-education-in-traffic your-education-in-surfing your-education-in-blogging ...

Looking forward to your reply

Dee Hudson ”

“ Re: Filtering a Keyword List

I have a list of "40,000 Top Paying Adsense Keywords." I want to filter it quickly. I am looking for a way to remove each row which contains a certain word.

For example, if I know I am not going to make a website about loans, I would want to remove every row which contains the word "loan" or "loans."

I have Open Office but could get Excel if needed. I have Keyword Elite but it doesn't seem to work for this purpose. I just can't figure out the best way to do this.

Can you suggest the best way of doing this quickly and/or a good tool to use?

“ How can I revive a dead newsletter, while changing what it does? Explanation:
Years ago, I created www.jetZILLA.com as an attempt at a full-blown online news & info magazine. This was largely a mistake, because of the large time commitment and effort involved; I never could keep up a regular issue schedule. Topica was used as a medium for announcing new editions, and I ended up with several hundred subscribers. Most of these have never opted out, even though I haven't published an issue in years. (The archived pages still get dozens of hits per month!)There was no attempt to sell anything; it was pure news & information.
Now, I want to use "jetZILLA" as a full-line product brand, not just the name of a magazine. And, I want the newsletter to become a very brief, but regular, issue to keep people informed about what I'm doing -- perhaps pointing to a blog (for news) or my latest sales pages or some such.
My real question is, how do I "re-introduce myself" to my Topica subscribers, keep them on board (if still interested in the hobby jet engine topic) and provide real value that will keep them coming back? In other words, how do I restore confidence? Secondarily, how could I start to use it to make a little ongoing passive income? (Right now, I have no "product", other than a lot of knowledge that beginners to the hobby might find useful.) ”

I have read most of my ebooks when I originally bought them - but wondered if there was a way of organising all this information so that it doesn't feel totally overwhelming. I would also like to know the best way to make use of all these products for my online business - especially the PLR products, without it taking hours of my time. “ I recently purchased a play and plug blog from the Warrior Forum. I was able to do the first couple of steps with no problem.

But when I went into the PHPadmin I could not upload the database. I have written to the gentleman I purchased this product from at both his support desk address and I have sent him 2 private messages via the Warrior Forum.

As the data was being uploaded I got the following error message as seen below.

“ Hi Guys

PPC is doing my fruit in right now!! Agh. I seem to be having a problem with Click Through Rate. I've read Perry Marshall's stuff and he says for the advert, have benefit in line one, feature in line 2. Another says you should include your keyword in first line for good CTR.

Also, many say to copy existing ads for good ctr, another will then say don't copy as duplicates don't get many clicks.

I've tried the "You won't get what you want without reading this" approach, I've tried the quirky ads, straight ads etc. Any advice?

Also, I've read that it's best to turn off ads in USA and make the bids higher in UK only to get good CTR, then add US later.

In short, my head is spinning...can I have your take on PPC, any help appreciated.

Cheers,
Phil

And will my clickthrough rate be lower too? “ "News" Versus "Blog" links on a website:

I have a potential client who is a top dentist in his area and needs a new website or a revamp of his current site.

His current site has a link called "News, which links to some section of his static site but looks like it should link to a blog.

I want to replace this with a link to a blog.

The question - should I call it "News" or "Blog?" Or should there be both a section for news, and a section for the blog?

What is the standard practice for such a scenario (a website of a professional in an offline field)?

Are there any good resource of information on this? I am not necessarily looking for entire books of information or web design technology. “ This is a follow up question for Matt Garrett. The original question was:
Question ID: 2726350 Answer No:539

I wanted to let you know that I tried your suggestions and they did not work. I have been using NVU's Komposer software but it should not have made a difference.

I first tried to open a PHP file from inside the program. As you told me, I opened Komposer and using the file open option I tried to open a file with a php extension. I got a reply back stating that this is not an HTML file.

I then changed the default so that any php file when opened would automatically be sent to Komposer. But I still got the error message "This is not an HTML file.

I also tried to open an Apache file and a MySQL file and was unable to.

In the past two days I have looked on you tube for some help. One video had me download
a file called XAMPP. It has all three programs in one file. I got error messages that said that the ports for SQL and Apache were already in use therefore I could not install this program.

Today I found a video tutorial that was more than I believe I needed, but also it did not work on my computer. It was a program called WinLamp. I had to load some additional software, but it was easy enough.

The problem was that when I ran WinLamp the Apache 2.2 always came up as an error message.

I purchased a new computer a couple of months ago. It is an HP Pavilion Vista Home Premium 64 bit Edition.

Since I have had this computer I have had problems with downloading things from the Internet. Most companies have not upgraded to 64-Bit. Some are just coming out with Vista 32.

For example I purchase a set of programs to help handle different problems. One of these programs is RegCure. It has the ability to do many of the things I need done, but it can not work on my computer.

Sorry for the long note. Where do I go from here?

Thank you

“ I'm thinking of promoting a number of different products using articles, adwords etc. How do I set up my site to track my marketing. I've seen systems where the marketeer has set up one domain name and then has unique pages for each product that redirects to the product page. How does that help and how are they tracking the visitor. And is this a good strategy? ”

“ Squidoo, rather than blog...

I want to make another account. Do I just use a new username, or do I call myself a new name and use a new email? I imagine Squidoo would rather I was 'me' writing under a few pen names than pretending to be lots of people!

Many thanks, anne ”

“ I am looking for a resonably priced article directory software or monthly membership that is quality and where I can create different unique versions of my articles. In the past I had a membership to a directory; it was pretty good but the only thing was that I saw my articles on some strange sites where people were copying my work. Any suggestions of a good submitter. And any advice on how to avoid some of the strange sites that copy your work. ”

“ Hello,

I have a Wordpress blog which seems to be deindexed by Google. The command site:domain.com returns nothing.

The blog is 9 months old and gets about 3 automatic postings per day. It has about 50 backlinks and was indexed in Google. It is not monetized in any way.

Questions:
1) Does this deindexing usually happen after a manual review or can it happen automatically?

2) Is there any chance to get it back into Google's index, for example by getting more/better links?

Many thanks,
Andy ”

“ Is there any type of software that allows me to capture a person's info & then directs them to the next page with an order form & automatically fills in that form?

So for example, I'm an affiliate. A person comes to my page with a form. They put in their name & email address & click submit. They are taken to a page with the order form where their name & email are filled in already. They then fill in the rest of the order form. Is there anything like that, or any way of doing that? ”

“ Hi Matt - Thanks for the MSN PPC tip. Regarding my other query, I don't think I explained properly. What I was told I did wrong was because my site hadn't yet been indexed at all, I shouldn't have started by using digg and stumble, I should've waited for it to be indexed first before doing that. I've tried your site: thing, my site is www.custombirthdaycakes.co.uk and sure enough, you method shows it truely isn't indexed despite it having good links to it for a month now. Seems a bit weird right? So, if I just keep submitting links, it should appear eventually right??

Thanks,
Phil ”

“ In many reports I have read, they always speak about the importance of monitoring your blog/website analytics, including the number of visitors, page views, where they come from, what pages did they view, etc., etc. I have never once seen any detailed information about how to do this. It is usually just mentioned as though the reader should already know how to do it. Like a lot of Internet Marketing instructions and reports I read, the real “meat” of “How to Do It” is left out as though it is secret information. Where do I go for more information regarding site analytics and how to monitor traffic.
Please respond with a specific overview of this topic, then include specific steps to take and also speak about any special software (preferably free) needed to carry out these tasks. Thank you very much.

“ Hi Troops

I've made a few sites before but I've made an error with submissions and now can't get google to find the site. I'm told I went wrong because I 'digged' it, propeller, stumbled..and also 3 ezine articles to it. I've since created a wordpres blogg and submissted to a couple of directories. In short, is there anything I can do now to try and quickly get Google to pick it up?

Thanks,
Phil ”

“ I can't find much information on how to actually promote affiliate programs. I understand that I must use a blog for example, but I do not understand what must be included(what to actually write in the blog). I have tried to write a blog in the past but didn't get any visitors. What did I do wrong? After writing a blog does the traffic just come by itself? I know this seems a silly question but there isn't specific instructions on this. Thanks.

Also, if I wrote an article and linked it to a blog, what sort of things would I include i.e. whats the difference between what you'd write in the article and the actual blog itself? Wouldn't I just be repeating myself? I read you have to link an article to a blog because direct linking is not allowed by article directories. What tips would be good to make sure I get good traffic? ”

“ I've read a lot of IM "must have" manuals, and many of them suggest starting with Clickbank. I have not had any success with Clickbank (but have had with other stuff) but what do you think is the best kind of affiliate program for new marketers (ex: ebooks found on clickbank). ”

“ I have a Wordpress blog with multiple authors.

The multiple authors come from Unique Article Wizard.
The problem I have is someone has commented on one of the authors post that I have approved on my blog. The comment is directed to the author & not to myself. My concern is I'm not sure what to do with this comment as they are not happy with this author. See the comment below...

Dear Kieren:

I just ran across your article entitled How eBook Covers Can Be Used to Triple Your Conversions Today!, posted April 21, 2009, http://ozstormsebooks.com/blog/how-ebook-covers-can-be-used-to-triple-your-conversions-today/, and once again I am asking you to cease and desist using our trademark.

We would like to receive a written acknowledgment of this letter stating that you will in the future identify Selling Power as a trademark if you should write about our magazine, and not use Selling Power as a phrase. This is your second warning. If we do not hear from you, we will take legal action.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Thanks for your time.
