“ I am looking at the bounce rate for one of my websites. It is in the high 60s (as in 68% 69%) per Google Analytics. I would like to improve this.

My question is whether you have advice on good sources of information which would help me to understand and improve my bounce rate.

I am aware that I can Google it and find data on bounce rates, but what I am hoping for is a recommendation by an EA expert on good sources of information on this subject.

What I am trying to understand, or at least find out how to establish, is:

1. Is there a normal or average bounce rate, and/or a range which is considered to be above average or below average?"

2. If the answer to #1 depends on the niche, then how would I find out the averages for the type of website I have? (I don't want to discuss the details on EA, but most of my visitors are looking for information on a certain technology and/or looking to purchase items which use that technology.)

3. Is there a good source of advice or information on how to improve my bounce rate?

Thanks very much! ”

“ This question is more particularly for the payment process of my membership site.

I'm currently using paypal, but it won't allow users to pay for subscriptions without signing up for an account, but then once they do, their credit card goes into verification mode which can last anywhere from 2 days to 3 weeks, depending on their ability check their statements online or not.

This method completely goes against the idea of making it easy for the buyer to buy, and I've already lost a few people due to it.

No other membership site I belong to has that process and I'm wondering what I can do to change it.

I just started looking into 1shoppingcart.com, but when I was registering, they had no option for S.Korea which is where I'm living. Can anyone help with this?

Thanks in advance,

Rob... ”

“ I have a question about Bum Marketing.

Before I wrote this I did look up all the previous questions regarding Bum Marketing.

I do understand why the person asking the questions was unsure because there is a lot of conflicting answers on the Internet regarding Bum Marketing.

Rarely does anyone write about an opt-in box. I am not sure why not.

There seems to be two schools of thought, one being to write an UsFreeAds and/or an article with a landing page for which one you chose.

Next it has been suggested to do a Squidoo lens, a website or a blog for the affiliate product.

What would you recommend?

Would it not be a lot of work to maintain a lens or a blog for an affiliate link?

Thank you
Patricia ”

“ Hi Folks

Sorry, this is kind of similar to another question I’ve asked on this site, but I have a site which I spent weeks on from a wordpress template I bought. Now, I think the site looks ok but I have maybe made a mistake of making it cover too many types of fishing.

Anyway, my initial plan was to capture names and then sell stuff via newsletters, but that hasn’t really worked out that well. Are there any suggestions as to what I could do to monetise this site? I’ve tried listing products i.e rods, reels etc as affiliate products, but it is massively time consuming and really fiddly as it seems wordpress isn’t really suited for an e-commerce type site.

Here’s the link: http://www.fishingguild.com

Any suggestions welcome.

Thanks,
Phil

“ Hi Guys

I’ve had this site below for a couple of years and spent about a year solid doing SEO for the term Baby Shower Invitations….not for the feint hearted!! Now, the only way I have found to monetise it is by being an affiliate for TinyPrints.com who sell these very cards. At the peak of this market, I was selling a few for more 10% commission to make about 300 dollars a month. Not too bad but not great considering I’m now getting 200 visitors a day.

Here’s the site: http://www.babyshowerinvitationsweb.com

Now, over the time, I have tried doing a blog, I’ve tried doing CPA offers on there, I’ve tried selling baby related products i.e toys, prams / strollers, clothes etc etc…however, it seems that people are only really after the invitations due to the keywords people are typing to get to my site.

Someone said I could flip the site, but I don’t want to do that unless I really run out of money.

So, my question is, I really feel I’m sitting on a possible gold mine, but just can’t seem to find that sweet spot…should I spend good money on a fancy design or what??

Thanks,
Phil

“ Hi, this is a video marketing question:

Trying to figure out the best way to have a video stream right when the visitor visits the page without the need for the video to download first.

Here's an example: http://www.voicebroadcastingpros.com/stocks/stocks.html You can see that it takes a long time for this to download before it's ready to watch.

What other way is there to do this besides the video sites like youtube?

Is there a special process or conversion program?

“ Regarding: How to find RSS Feeds with content that is okay to publish.

I have several blogs which get regular updates with unique content but I would like to add some content from other sources as well. I have software and plugins which will post the content of RSS feeds on my blog.

The question is, how does one quickly find RSS feeds with content that is okay to use, and possibly which is published in full (maybe with a link or resource box at the bottom), so that I could add this to my blog without violating any copyrights or RSS-etiquette.

I have heard the "do a Google Search" and have tried this. But I am hoping there is a more pinpointed method of doing this, in order to find RSS feeds that fit the description above. ”

“ Re for one of the experts that knows WordPress.

Upgrading (now to 2.8 - soon to be 2.8.1) WP seems to be important for security and other improvements, but what a hassle. It seems you have to check to make sure your theme is compatible and all your plugins are compatible, etc. This isn't easy to do - some of these developers are not reachable. I cannot contact the developer of my theme, for example, let alone all of my many plugins. What does everyone else do with these upgrades? ”

“ Hi Troopers

I had that nasty virus a while ago which would re-direct to another person's site. To fix it had to remove some iframe code from pages, mostly php pages.

I've fixed all but one...and of course it was a workdpress blog which means there were tons of php pages. Now, some of the pages still seem to be working as I'm getting hits, but when I go to the index page at: http://www.fishingguild.com

..i get this error

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/defender/public_html/wp-includes/default-filters.php:198) in /home/defender/public_html/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 770

Now, I don't expect somebody to be able to fix it from just looking at that, but can somebody point me in the right dorection, is the site COMPLETELY f***** or is there something simple I can do?

Cheers,

Phil

“ I understand that in the best of all possible worlds that one should buy a new domain name for each of their products,
and/or their affiliate products.

It is my understanding that the only way to really afford this is to have a reseller's account with your hosting company.

I don't do enough business or have enough money to pay for a reseller's account.

I do want to make my affiliate marketing product's name as close to the original product as possible.

So, here is a solution I have worked out. Please let me know if this is doable or if it breaks any kind of rule.

I purchase the domain name 2niche.com.

I though I could name my ffiliate products by putting my version of the product's name in front of 2niche.com.

For example, ThisIsMySite@2niche.com

I think that the domain name of 2niche.com is short enough that it won't overshadow whatever I name a new product.

Please advise.

Thank you
Patricia Lucey ”

“ Hi,

I'm addressing this question to Matt Garrett as he has answered a question I raised regarding using keywords in sub domains.

My intention, and in fact I have already started, is to have various unconnected niches within one domain eg creditcards.forall.com dogtraining.forall.com and so on. The primary reasons for that is so that I can target specifically the keyword I am aiming for in the title AND because I am new to this, to save on recurring costs on domain names.

However, because the niches are so different I am at a loss as to what to have for a home page for the main domain www.forall.com This is not my domain name by the way.

In other words when someone who goes to creditcards.forall.com and then perhaps goes to forall.com I dont want him to see the other niches I am involved in.Can you advise on what sort of page I could have - I don't want totally blank but can't think of anything appropriate.

Best regards

Glenn ”

“ What do I do to have a squeeze page (double optin with Aweber) take readers to a sales page instead of to the confirm-your-email Aweber thank-you page just as soon as readers they hit the optin button?

Aweber wants to take people to the first thank-you page, which tells readers to go to their email to confirm. This defeats the purpose.

Aweber will let me create a custom thank-you page that could be the sales page, but insists certain info about confirmation be on that page, and they want to review any custom thank-you pages.

It is awkward to have the confirmation email page in there

“ Hi this question is for Kevin Riley. Hi Kevin with the $7 script; I notice that after the customer is taken to the download page that the script directs them to; they later receive an email from the $7 script that gives them the download link again and tells them that they have 72hours to download. I have noticed that when i use the aweber follow up message; the aweber follow up message is the first immediate message the customer receives and for some reason the aweber's first immediate message interferes with the $7 script's download message that tells them the number of hours that they have to download the product. It seems as though i am not able to use the $7 script's message if i want to continue to follow up with customers and i like the idea of them receiving an email with the download link information and letting them know how long the link is good for. Is there a way of getting around this to use both the $7 script and the aweber first message follow up at the same time.

Thank You for your assistance. ”

“ Hi,

I'm looking to embed some video in my site, but I can't use YouTube the video is the course I'm selling, and so it needs to remain private.

I've been doing some reading and a lot of places say I should convert it to a flash file to embed it. But even if I did that, I wouldn't know what to do next.

The course is a language teaching course and involves writing on a white-board, which means that I can't really afford to lose much (if any) quality in the process.

If any one has any suggestions on how to go about getting my video into some sort of player and then on to my site without losing quality, that'd be great.

Once again, thanks in advance.

“ 2) This question is for Tahir, actually. I've been studying your TMN series, and have a question.

In the "Knowledge Nightmare"http://www.easilyanswered.com/images/answer_quest.gif vid, you talk about how to organize your folders. You then go on to say that bonuses given to you for signing up should be put under "Paid For" products, not "Free."

Regarding this, I actually have a couple questions (not sure If I'm breaking the rules or not by asking two questions in one, but they're very related.

The first is, now that I'm a paid member of this site, does the material that gets given to me by the experts here count as "Paid For" stuff, or no?

For example, the TMN Audio and transcripts I'm studying from you.

The second (related) question is, let's say I sign up for a monthly membership, and am given a bunch of bonuses for doing so. But then I decide to quit in the first month of my trial membership.

Should those products be considered "paid for" or "free"?

“ I own a web based business that provides online driver training classes for individuals that receive tickets or need online classes for driver education purposes in Texas, Florida, and Virginia. I know the importance of internet marketing and SEO activities, and have worked as best I know how to redesign my sites (www.drivertrainingassociates.com, floridasfirsttrafficschool.com) for SEO purposes. Unfortunately I am not an expert in this arena and one of my competitors is very savy at it. He currently has 3-4 of his sites on the first page of Google for numerous keywords and phrases. I want to compete with him as best I can, and so I am looking for a freelance or SEO company to manage an Internet Marketing Campaign for my company. Do you have any suggestions for this? I have looked at SEO inc. and some others, but I just am not sure if I have already done most of what they do. For example, I believe that I already have done much of the site structure work and adding a blog to my site. I just can't figure out what my competitors are doing that I am not, and I need a SEO guru. Do you know any? ”

I just went on Google to search for a couple keywords, both Clickbank product names. How is it that ads on USFreeAds or threads on Yahoo Answers rank so high? Often, they'll rank higher than affiliates with review blogs...how does this happen and do they stay there for long?

Thanks,

“ Hi Craig Desorcy:

Thank you for allowing us to use your wordpress themes on your website idiotproofblogging.com. I will have your information in the footer on my blog for sure. I also purchased a copy of your blog lockdown and I am humble and grateful for that information as well! I have a question about the first post on your blog (idiotproofblogging.com) How did you make your first post static. Normally when a new post is entered the first post takes the second position and then moved down to lower positions as other posts/content is added. How do you make the first post remain in the same place as subsequent posts are added. I would like to create something similar to get people to sign up for my free report that I am offering and that is really smooth the way that you have that there.

Thank you for your wisdom; and your generosity; and by the way you pronounced my name correctly.

Thank You so much for sharing :)

First off, how should I package everything, for instance how do I create a password protected page with all the content on it? Also if I JV with some people how do I keep track of sales, stats, etc.? Also how do I approach JV partners, the niche is affiliate marketing? Do I put this on Clickbank itself? What if someone else is on Clickbank with the same product? “ This question is for Kevin Riley.

Hi Kevin, I actually have a question regarding the website building toolkit (ebook) you sent me.

In the beginning of it, it talks about sending people to the sales page of that book by putting a link to it on my blog.

I'm just wondering if that applies to me considering that the book was given to me by you over this site.

If so, great, and I'm wondering if you have an official affiliate program going that one (me) could sign up to.

Not sure if this is a bit forward over this medium, but I'm not sure how else to get you.

Cheers, and I look forward to your reply.

I have another question for you; do you mind sharing the name of the theme that you are using on your idiot proof blogging site. It is very user friendly and is great for navigation. Is it one of word presses free themes or is it one that requires payment. Also i went to the warrior forum as you suggested to look around and do some forum marketing with my free report. I found that; that particular forum is for internet marketers, and my niche is health related. I went to a health related forum and was very careful not to spam and follow the rules. After i answered a question i was notified that the link to my free report in my signature was removed. What are your thoughts on that topic as far as careful tactics related to marketing in different forums. And by the way thank for you for sharing your 53 page free report on installing your first wordpress blog; it is an excellent resource. In advance thank you for your response. ”

Sorry, another Q from me. CPA seems to be hot at the moment, but can you build a long term business on this model, or is it only good for making 'seed' money i.e here today but maybe gone tomorrow?

If CPA is what it's cracked up to be, can you use Google PPC or is it better to use adware CPV like Mediatraffic.com ?

Thanks,

“ Hi Gang

If you are promoting a 'problem' niche topic i.e someone with back pain, or someone wanting to get back with their ex, or yeast infection etc etc, then how can you target a specific group in order to be specific. Someone wanting their ex back for example could be anybody in the world of any background. This is very different to a niche like dog training for chiwawas where you can really 'connect' with that specific audience.

“ Hi Guys

Would I be right in saying that you can no longer use PPC in conjunction with a one page squeeze page? I read that Google hates those pages where you have a form aboove the fold in order to access the next part of the site, or to get free gift etc. ...and, if you have the form below the fold, I'm sure the conversion will be a lot lower.

Sooooo, what is the best format to grab emails without them purchasing but google is happy with. Or can you use the content network as it's less fussy about the landing page??

I also heard that with PPC, you cannot have a pop up on your landing page?

Thanks,
Phil ”

“ I read in a StomperNET magazine (The Net Effect) that one of the key factors to ranking well was to add a page a day to one's site. So I started doing that and it seems to be working.

But if I have some articles ready ahead of time, do you think its better I post them all at once so that they are up there sooner? Or should I post them once a day so that the site continues to have frequent updates.

For example, lets say I have paid someone to write 7 400-word articles and they are all ready. Which do you think is better:

1. Post them all today, even if that means I won't add a post for the next 7 days
2. Post them once a day for the next 7 days

I know SEO is a dubious field but any thoughts, recommendations or suggestions would be great. ”

“ Hi Craig Desorcy; I received your answer to my question about how to market my free report and e-book. This is what has happened. While I was creating my e-book in one niche I ran upon some keywords in another niche; got excited and created a free report for a new niche. So I have a free report for one niche and an e-book for another niche unrelated to one another. I have a landing page for the free report already but I do not have an e-book to sell with the free report. What I have done is created a resource page in the free report where I am promoting network marketing products that will help with the problem people are having and in that free report I am telling people where they can purchase these unusual products.(network marketing products; with my id number given of course) And with that I plan to follow up and send more information about things in the future. Now with my e-book I do not have a free report; for the e-book I am only selling it for $7.00; so what is your advice as far as marketing these two unrelated niche products. Should I have a free report for the e-book or just market it and sell it straight out. Do you think promoting network marketing products in a free report is a good thing to do. Thank You in advance for your guidance and sorry for the long question. ”

“ Setting up the payment part of a paid-membership course...

Right now I'm having a site built for me (but Kevin Riley has sorted me out on that, but never-the-less, the process is already under way on this one), and the coder clearly has not worked with paid memberships before.

I want, once the user registers his credit card info, he'll receive the first four classes (this is a language teaching site) free, and on the day that the 5th class is released, if they haven't unsubscribed, their card will be charged and then each month on the same date afterwards (again, assuming they don't unsubscribe).

My coder said last night that he doesn't really know how to do that, and suggested that the user just pay again and again at the beginning of each month. Well, that's obviously not I want, so I'm wondering if any one (Kevin, have you got me again?) can help me get this going myself.

Again, thanks in advance,

Rob... ”

“ All right, here's my sales page (no PayPal buttons yet):
www.jetzilla.com/steelladies/
Now, my question is: Instead of shopping cart buttons, I want the purchaser to go to one of two signup forms - a form for people 18 yrs or older, and a "parent or guardian" form for younger folks. This form MUST be "signed" and emailed in to get to the order page. The form will say that a responsible person is aware of the hazards, etc. and will hold me harmless if they burn down their garage or something. (Yeah, I know disclaimer contracts are NEVER ironclad, but at least it gives me something.) Once they "sign" and send the email, I take them to the order page with the actual buttons.
So, how do I do this? Do you know of any "template" I can use? It seems to me that this is roughly like what a "squeeze page" does except for the actual subscription action taken. ”

You could type your actual affiliate link (it's allowed) into the reply and it will work, but I don't won't to do that. I want my link cloaked. Now, I know on most word processors you can make any text a link, but you can't in this forum reply area. Is this possible not being a proper name? Is there a reasonably uncomplicated way to do this myself without lawyers etc...? Any ideas on cost and time? Are there any links to software that anyone knows about to do this? I want to use this particular nickname on my website and marketing. I understand you cannot Trademark a domain, but that is not what I'm looking to do? Any ideas other than Legalzoom?
Thanks,
Stephen Taranto ”

“ Where can I find a list of all the types of pages an IM site needs, the typical names of those pages, (sales page, confirmation page,) so that I can build a completely functional web site. I realize that some pages may be optional and so on. I know how to make web pages but I have never been able to find a check list of all the pages I'll need and the typical function (and options for) for each page. ”

“ I have two questions. The first one is I have a free report that I would like to give away to build a list in a niche. What is the best way to promote the report through a blog or otherwise. My second question is; I have an e-book that I wrote for a niche; what is the best way to promote it to get sales through a blog or otherwise.

Thank You in advance for your answer. ”

“ Hi,
Could someone tell me whether they think "Traffic Kahuna" is worth it's high price. I read that the backlinks TK was getting for some people, were link sites that had no page rankings. Any detail about this program would be most appreciated.
Thanks,
Bob ”

“ I have heard of a Wordpress plugin that automatically cloaks your WP datafeed links, so the engines don't penalize the site as a "thinly veiled affiliate site." Is there a free and/or paid version?
Thanks! ”

“ Hi,
If I wanted to save money by not buying separate domain names for different products, is it wise to create one generic sounding domain name, like,
bestvalue.com,
and making numerous subdomain names for each completely different product?

Thanks,
Bob ”
