“ Hi. I have quite a few squidoo lenses at this point. But only 2 are doing well (or much better than the others). These two consistantly have 1000 hits a week, while the others don't. I thought I did the same things for all of them. How can I tell what I did different or right for these ones?

“ Looking for a tracking, cloaking, testing software that is also dynamic (I think thats what its called- ie. you have an affiliate link in an article then want to change it or the product is not offered and you want to send it somewhere else)...Does anyone know of a program that includes all these features or perhaps a combination of programs. “ I was looking at Google Analytics for a site and I noticed that 85% of the traffic, over a period of approximately one week since Analytics was installed, was "direct traffic" (1494 visits).
It seems unlikely that this was actually people typing the URL into their browser 1494 times, in one week.
The map overview shows that the traffic is all coming from the USA. Its average time per visit is 29 seconds. The bounce rate for the direct traffic is 85%, whereas the bounce rate for search-based or referall traffic is 56% - 59%.
My first thought is - bots? Something else?
I Googled this, and unforuntately only found a conglomeration of confusions, opinions, and conjectures. My questions:
1. Is there a good resource on the subject of Google Analytics, fully utilizing it, interpreting it, and analysing its data? Such as an eBook, a website, a set of videos, etc?
2. Are there any probable or possible causes of this high ratio of "direct traffic?"
3. Do you have any advice or suggestions on how to better determine the actual sources of this direct traffic, or at least ascertain further details about it?

“ Hi. My goal is to track the unique visitors to 10 different landing pages so I can test the lead conversion rates. The landing pages are owned by the affiliate program I joined but they will not separate the stat counter tracking code for each landing page. To get around this, I was thinking I needed to host some domains I set up for the purpose of redirecting(forwarding) to the landing pages I spoke about. I also want to mask the domains to keep my domains in the address bar. I am currently using Go Daddy to accomplish this and it is working fine, but again, my problem is I can\'t test the amount of unique users. On my domains I would enter my own script to redirect and mask to my affiliate landing pages and have a tracking script on each of the domains that will track unique visits and other marketing info.
Do you know how I can accomplish what I am after?
